Turkey's Only Cheese Museum Attracts Thousands of Visitors in 2025

Turkey's first and only museum, the "Cheese Museum" in Kars, which is recognized as the "18th Cheese Route in the World", welcomed approximately 25,000 local and foreign tourists in the first 3 months of 2025. The museum, where more than 30 types of cheese are exhibited, has become a prominent tourism destination.

Director's Statement

The museum director, Yeşim Koç, expressed that the Cheese Museum has received intense interest since its opening day among local and foreign tourists. The museum, where everything about cheese comes to life, also contributes significantly to tourism in Kars.

Speaking about the high interest in the Cheese Museum, Director Yeşim Koç stated, "Due to the Ramadan Bayram and the 9-day holiday, our visitors have started to arrive slowly. In the first 3 months of 2025, we had approximately 25,000 visitors. This is a truly wonderful number for us, and I am confident that these numbers will increase in the coming months. Our cheese museum has become a very important place for Kars. Being the first thematic cheese museum in Turkey and also the largest cheese museum in the world, it is one of the must-see places in Kars."

Traditional Village Section

The Kars Cheese Museum impresses visitors from the entrance. The museum showcases sections such as the barn area, jugs filled with milk, life in the highlands, cheese production, and the evolution of cheese manufacturing. Additionally, tools and equipment used in cheese production from past to present are also exhibited.

The museum includes sections that narrate the history of Kars center Dere Tabya, a representation of Kars Train Station, Kars flora, Ankara Gazi Train Station, gruyere production hall, cheese hall, Kars houses, chef's section, and workshop areas. As Turkey's first thematic museum, the Kars Cheese Museum was visited by 25,000 people in the first 3 months of 2025, establishing itself as a new attraction center in Kars.
